Olde Beaufort Farmers' Market
Beaufort also draws raves for local flavors: visitors can shop
for just-picked pears, farm-fresh cheeses, and handmade crafts
under majestic oak trees at highly rated farmers’ markets.
- Travel & Leisure magazine
The public is invited to come to the Olde Beaufort Farmers' Market and enjoy the atmosphere and character of an open air North Carolina farmers' market.
Locally grown produce is fresher. While produce that is purchased in the supermarket or a big-box store has been in transit or cold-stored for days or weeks, produce that you purchase at your local farmer’s market has often been picked within 24 hours of your purchase. This freshness not only affects the taste of your food, but the nutritional value, which declines with time. It sure makes sense, doesn't it?
• Buy from Local Farmers and support family farms.
• Foster strong communities.
• Safeguard your family’s health.
• Help preserve genetic diversity.
• Strengthen your local economy.
• Enjoy exceptional taste & freshness.
• Local food keeps your taxes in check.
• Support a clean environment and benefit wildlife.
• Keep farmers farming to maintain open space & rural character.
A dollar spent locally generates at least twice as much income for the local economy. When businesses are not owned locally, money leaves the community at every transaction.
Benefits of supporting our local farmers
At Hungry Town Tours, we pride ourselves in working with restaurants offering fresh, local products and supporting our local fishermen and farmers.
The market takes place every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and runs from April 23 through November 19, 2016. Admission is free.
The market provides high quality local food to Beaufort and the surrounding area. It provides support for small farmers, grows the local economy, and provides an enjoyable open space for the community to gather weekly.
The Olde Beaufort Farmers' Market takes place under the live oak trees, on the grounds of the Carteret County Courthouse in Beaufort, North Carolina.
